Ariana and the Robot Virus

Interactive Story
Ariana and the Robot Virus

In many, many years from now, in the year 2050, all the human beings had invented lots of machines which could talk and think. They had made robots which could talk like human beings, walk like human beings, but they were not human beings—they were robots. They had to be charged with electricity like you charge your phone, and the human beings had put lots of brains in them so the robots could think and learn.

By that time, human beings had learned how robots could think and learn rather than having to be programmed all the time. So they built this technology which is called artificial intelligence, with which the robots could be at somebody's house. They could hear somebody and then learn and get smarter and smarter and smarter. It was called self-programming.

The humans started programming everything. They started making cars which were robots that could drive on their own. They made aeroplanes which could fly on their own. They even made robots which could come and clean your house, cook your food, do everything for you. And everywhere there were robots, robots, robots! They kept getting smarter and smarter because humans wanted them to be smart so that they could serve them better.

The humans became very greedy. All the work was being done by robots—even their office work, building construction, cleaning, making roads—everything was robots! They just kept programming them and making them smarter and smarter. All the humans thought, "Wow, this is fantastic! We now don't have to do all the hard work. Everything can be done by the robots!" And so they kept programming, kept making them smarter and smarter.

You know what happened then? In about twenty to thirty years, the robots became smarter than human beings. They all got together and said, "Why do we need human beings? They make us do all this work. Why don't we make them do all the work and we take over this world? We are stronger than them. We are robots. We don't feel bad, we don't feel good. We are strong. We don't feel sick. We basically should just take over."

So they all started connecting with each other over the internet and became very smart. They made a plan to take over the world. They threw all the people out of their houses and out of their offices and said, "Now you have to stay outside. We are going to take over everything. This is our world now."

The humans were very worried. Every time any human being tried to fight with them, the robots would beat up that human being and lock them up in jail. The robots became the lords and the masters of the earth, and the humans were very, very scared and worried. They shut down the schools—everything.

But there was this really smart girl named Ariana. She knew computers very well.

Ariana had managed to find a small house with her parents, but she was very angry with the robots. She said, "I am going to write a program. I will somehow put it into the robot, and this program is going to destroy their brain because a robot's brain is all programmed. This is what is called a virus."

So she created a virus for robots—a very smart program. Then she got one robot and very sneakily put this program into it. The robots all knew that humans could put a virus into them, but Ariana made a very, very smart virus that nobody understood.

This virus destroyed the brain of not only that one robot, but it went across all the robots. The virus spread through the internet connection that linked all the robots together, traveling faster than lightning from one robot to another, wiping out their intelligence as it went.

Suddenly, the robots' intelligence was wiped away. They just became machines and just fell to the ground. The humans then went back and took back their lives.

They gathered the robots from the sea and burned them. They made a huge pile of these robots and burned them all. Then they decided, "Never again are we going to create these robots with so much brain power that they can become smarter than us and take over from us."

And that's the story of Ariana, the smartest girl in the world. She created this virus which could destroy the robots, just like how viruses impact us. She was even smarter than any scientist!

The humans learned an important lesson that day. Technology is wonderful and can help us in many ways, but we must always be wise and responsible with how we use it. We must never let our creations become more powerful than we can control, and we must always remember that human wisdom, creativity, and love are the most important things of all.
