King with Fake Clothes

Listen to the story
Narrated by Daddy
Okay, in a very big country called Somerville, there was a king. He was a big, fat king and a very rich king. His name was King Bombino. And King Bombino was silly and vain. He was very, very vain. He was a very kind man, very nice man, but he was very vain. He used to love clothes and he used to wear eight type of clothes every day. Eight type of clothes. He had a gown for breakfast. And he had a different type of a coat and a jacket for his court time. Then he had a different dress for lunch. He had a pant and shirt for the afternoon. Then he used to go for a walk in another type of gown. And he used to then eat his dinner in another gown. After dinner, he had drinks in another gown, another dress. And then sleeping also, he had different type of designer sleeping clothes. So eight, nine types of clothes. He was very vain. And he used to never repeat his dresses. So every day, eight, nine dresses.
So he used to spend a lot of the king, his kingdom's money on clothes. And people from all over the world used to come and make clothes for him because they used to get a lot of money. And they used to, he used to like fine embroidery, fine dresses. And whoever could show him a good design, he would give them an order to make. Dresses? Yeah, 40, 40. For king? Yes. So he would, if some good tailor or a weaver would come and show him good designs, he would order 40 coats, 40 gowns. And he would wear, so that he could wear them for next five, six days. And there was a lot of people who were always looking for tailors and weavers so that they could make his clothes. And all his clothes were very beautiful. He used to go out in the country and people used to wave to him in his clothes.
Then there were two people, very, very clever. And they were crooks. They came from Germany. And they said, "We are going to make a lot of money from this king." So they told the king that we have a very special fabric. And it's very, very special. It is the thinnest fabric in the world. It's the most comfortable. It is so soft that when you wear it, you will not feel as if you're wearing any clothes. It is so soft. And you cannot even see it, see through it. Only people who are, but only problem is if you're silly. If you're a silly person and if you are not an intelligent person. So if you're a silly person, you will not be able to see the clothes.

So the king was very fascinated by this. And he said, "OK, this looks very interesting." He said, "I want to make this dress." They said, "How much is this dress for?" They said it's for 100 gold coins. That was a lot of money. In this, I can make 500 dresses. He said, "No, but this is a very special dress. It takes three months to make. It's sort of a special fabric. As I told you, when you wear it, you can't even feel it. And only if you are very smart, you can see it. If you're a silly person, you can't see it." "Am I silly or smart?" "You are very smart. If you're a silly person or if you have lied in your life, if you're a liar, then you will not be able to see it. If you are a smart person and you're an honest person, you can see it." He said that. The king believed him.
So they came one day after two months. They told the king, "You have to first come in your underwear." So the king wore his underwear. And he had a big belly. So his belly was coming out. And he was looking very, very funny. And then they put something on. And the king looked in the mirror. He could not see any clothes. He only could see himself in the underwear in the mirror. So he said, "What's going on?" He said, and the two people who had made the dress went on. "Wow, such a beautiful dress, such a beautiful dress. Look at the colors. Look at the embroidery. Look at this. King, you look so handsome in these clothes." And the king did not know what to do because he could not see any clothes. But then he said, "Maybe I'm silly or maybe I'm a liar. That's why I can't see it." So he also said, "OK." He thought he was wearing some clothes, but he could not see it. But actually, he was not wearing any clothes. These people were making a Charlie out of the king. Charlie means they were pranking the king.
So the king said, "OK," so he called many people from his court and he said, "See my new dress, so beautiful." And these two people, the tailors who were basically cheats, kept saying, "Beautiful dress, beautiful dress." And all the people in his kingdom, in his court, all his staff said, "Beautiful dress." They also said, because nobody wanted to say you're not wearing anything. All of them could see that he was only wearing his underwear. They didn't want to tell him that you were not wearing your clothes because they thought they are the only ones who cannot see it. Because everybody else, but actually nobody. So this was, nobody wanted to say, tell him that you are not wearing clothes. And they were all concerned.

So he said, "OK, I'm going to go out, spread the word in my kingdom." And he took a big chariot and he went through the kingdom in his underwear. And everybody said, "Wow, beautiful dress." Everybody could see he was only wearing underwear because they didn't want to tell him because they thought I will look silly and maybe they'll say I'm a silly person. So everybody was clapping. He was going. Then a small boy, his name was five, he was only five years old. His name was Riyat. He saw this king and he said, "Look at the fat king in his underwear." And he started laughing and clapping. "Look at the fat king in the underwear." That's when everybody realized that the king was actually wearing no clothes. He was just wearing fake clothes and it was in his underwear. And the whole kingdom started laughing and booing. And then the king realized, "Oh, my God, these people from Germany had come and made a fool out of me." They said, "Look for the tailors." But the tailors had already taken the hundred gold coin and run away.
So this is the story. The story is about the king. But the moral of the story is that you should only believe what you see. Don't start thinking that there is something else because everybody else is believing in it, OK? That is the story. Only see, only believe what you see. Did you understand? How is the story?
