The Time Machine

Once upon a time, there was a brilliant scientist named Isaac Newton who invented the world's first time machine. It looked like a beautiful silver bird with glowing wings. After Newton passed away, the time machine was lost for many years, hidden away in a secret laboratory.
One day, a curious and adventurous girl named Perina was exploring an old abandoned building in Singapore. She loved discovering new things and solving mysteries. As she wandered through the dusty rooms, she found a hidden door behind a bookshelf. When she pushed it open, she couldn't believe her eyes—there was the legendary time machine, shaped like a magnificent bird!
Perina was thrilled. She climbed inside and studied the controls carefully. After figuring out how it worked, she flew the time machine back to her home in Singapore. She decided to keep it a secret at first, but she was too excited not to try it out.
'Let me see what the future holds,' Perina thought. It was 2020, and the world was struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic. Everyone had to wear masks, stay at home, and couldn't travel or visit restaurants freely.
Perina set the time machine to go just two years ahead—to 2023. When she arrived, she was amazed! Nobody was wearing masks anymore. Restaurants were full of happy people, and everyone was traveling freely. She asked some people what had happened to COVID-19.
'Oh, that's all gone now,' they told her cheerfully. 'The pandemic ended, and life is back to normal.'

Perina felt so relieved and happy. 'At least in two years, this will all be over,' she thought.
But Perina was curious about the more distant future. She set the time machine to go fifty years ahead—to 2070. When she arrived, her heart sank. Singapore was almost completely underwater! Only the tallest buildings poked out above the waves. The beautiful city she knew was drowned beneath the sea.
Shocked and confused, Perina asked the few people she found, 'What happened? Why is Singapore underwater?'
They explained sadly, 'Because of global warming and climate change. For many years, people polluted the Earth—they used too much petrol in cars, left electricity and air conditioners running all the time, and used too much plastic. The Earth became hotter and hotter. The ice at the North Pole melted, and the sea level rose. Singapore couldn't survive.'
'What happened to all the people who lived here?' Perina asked.
'They had time to leave,' the people said. 'They moved to other places before the city was completely submerged.'

Perina felt terrible. 'Can I do something to stop this?' she asked desperately.
'Yes, you can,' they told her. 'But you can't fix it from 2020. You need to go back 160 years into the past—to 1910. There's a man named James Watt who is inventing machines that will cause all this pollution. If you can convince him to make his inventions differently, you might be able to change the future.'
Determined to help, Perina traveled back to 1910. She found James Watt in his workshop, working on his steam engine and other inventions.
'Mr. Watt,' Perina said urgently, 'I've come from the future, and I have pictures to show you.' She showed him images of Singapore underwater. 'Because of the machines you're creating now, in one hundred and fifty years, the world will be drowning. Your inventions release carbon dioxide and other gases that make the Earth too hot.'
James Watt was horrified. 'I had no idea! What can I do?'
'Please,' Perina begged, 'don't make things that pollute the Earth. Make machines that are environmentally friendly—machines that don't release harmful gases into the atmosphere.'

James Watt thought long and hard. He realized the terrible consequences of his inventions. He decided to change his plans. Instead of making steam engines and internal combustion engines that burned coal and petrol, he focused on creating electric machines that didn't pollute.
Perina returned to her own time and then traveled forward again to 2070. This time, Singapore was safe! The city was thriving, green, and beautiful. The future had changed because of what she had done.
A few years later, Perina found herself back in 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic was still raging. People had received vaccines, but they only worked for four months. Then people would get sick again. The cycle seemed endless—one year, two years, three years passed, and COVID-19 still hadn't gone away.
People couldn't travel. They couldn't go to offices. Restaurants kept opening and closing. Everyone was exhausted and frustrated.
'Maybe they find a cure in the future,' Perina thought. She climbed back into her time machine and set it for twenty years ahead—to 2041.
When Perina arrived in 2041, she was overjoyed. Everyone was healthy and happy. No one wore masks. Airplanes and trains were full of travelers. Life was completely normal again.

'What happened?' Perina asked the people. 'How did COVID-19 finally end?'
'After many years of research, scientists finally discovered a medicine that cures COVID-19 completely,' they explained. 'You just take one dose, and you never get sick from COVID again. It was created about ten years after the pandemic started.'
Perina's eyes lit up. 'If the medicine was created ten years after COVID started, I can bring it back to 2021 and help people get the cure much sooner!'
She found the laboratory where the medicine was made, gathered many boxes of the COVID cure, and traveled back to 2021.
Back in her own time, Perina rushed to a medical laboratory. She gave the medicine to the scientists and doctors.
'This is the cure for COVID-19,' she told them. 'I brought it from the future.'

The scientists studied the medicine carefully. They analyzed how it was made and quickly began producing it. Within months, everyone in the world had access to the cure. People took the medicine, and COVID-19 was finally defeated—ten years earlier than it would have been without Perina's help.
The world was saved. People could travel again, hug their loved ones, and live freely without fear.
Perina had used the time machine not just to explore the future, but to change it for the better. She had saved Singapore from drowning and cured a global pandemic. And she learned an important lesson: even one person, with courage and determination, can make a difference and change the world.

I like this story because it teaches you that you should not pollute the earth and that if you try hard enough, you can make a difference in the world.
